Selection and Recruitment

Selection and Recruitment

Servimar will have to ensure the qualification of the Officer or rating before his recruitment, that license and certificates are in conformity with the Administration of the flag and international maritime regulations.
An efficient system of recruitment and placement that is in place, allows the recruitment process to start once we have received the application form of the seafarer.
The selection and the recruitment are based on references, a resume, assessment notes, diplomas and certificates, a seaman book or a statement of navigation, a medical fitness certificate, a good practice of English, a criminal record, etc…
As initial step, a complete review of above documents is carried out. If they meet the recruitment needs, we will conduct a personal skills assessment interview prior to recruitment. The latter will be conducted by phone if the candidate lives far from our offices.
A procedure has been established to check that the documents submitted for the job application are up to date. Additionally, the verification of the authenticity of the documents will be done with the Maritime administration(license, certificates, seaman navigation statement).
A test will be performed to check the level of knowledge in English. Seafarer’s previous employers may be contacted for further information related to the seafarer.
Requests for information or advice from seafarers’ relatives, when lasts are on board, will be dealt without delay, with kindness and free of charges.
Our recruitment and placement office holds a license to practice issued by the Administration.

The seafarer applying for a job will have to provide a CV, fill in our application form and will conduct a skills assessment interview prior to recruitment .

Training and Qualification

Training and Qualification

SERVIMAR is responsible of the training of seafarers and ensures that seafarers are adequately trained and duly qualified to perform their duties on  board the vessels.
Appropriate trainings are provided to seafarers prior to joining vessel. While performing the debriefing for seafarer signed off, the complete review of his documents leads to the listing of all certificates to be renewed and therefore the trainings to be carried out.
Training of seafarers is important in our device : qualified and experienced instructors from Dakar Nautical Institute provide training on a wide range of maritime topics regarding STWC 95 convention as amended with next generation training equipments. Training courses can also be provided in the high Maritime institute of Casablanca.
Training is almost important for seafarers at all job levels on board because it directly affects the standards of competency, efficiency and performance.
